Hey Mr Berkey can i take my vocab. retake test tomarrow?

You can tomorrow morning…if you’ve done your test corrections.

ok i did. Thanks

Hey, Mr.Berkey i really dont know if you can answer this, but how would i put appositive phrases, prepositional phrases, and clauses in my writing? can you help?

For appositive phrases, look for sentences that you can combine. For example:
My dog Max is a golden retriever.
He loves to run in the park.
-My dog, a golden retriever named Max, loves to run in the park

Prepositional Phrases show location, position, place, and time. (We went UNDER the bridge). Look in your writing…you might already have two and you didn’t know it.

Clauses use words like “which, that, although, since, because” to set up the rest of the sentence.
-Although he loved adventure, Jeff decided to never go skydiving again.
-It’s ironic that Steve got a speeding ticket, since he’s a police officer.

Clauses can’t stand on their own. They need the rest of the sentence to complete the idea of the sentence. In both of the examples I gave you, if the sentence ended with the clause, the reader is left hanging. But without the clause the sentence doesn’t have the same impact.

Does that help, Macey?

Hey Mr. Berkey, my printer isnt working so if i sent you my writing will you print it off for me, and i will come get it Thursday Morning?

Yep! Just email it, and I’ll print it off for you. Don’t forge to do he make-up activity first!

ok… i will if i still have the paper.:)

oh ya i kinda need ur email if i am going to email it to you..:)

ok?….

Hey, Mr.Berkey. Since i came in late today i don’t know what to do for home work. i know the perdiction box but whats does that mean?

You missed the reading for today, but you can still do the Prediction Box assignment. Simply make a prediction for what you think might happen later in the book using your Reading Log (for what you’ve read). Back up your prediction with two pieces of evidence from your Reading Log that supports your claim.

Thanks that makes more sence then what i thought.

mrberkey can you post 11/23 hw

It’s already up. Download the Figurative Language notes, then download the form for finding any type of Figurative Language in your current AR book.
